Our Story

 Hello! I’m Aidan Ward, owner of The Inn Between and Dungeon Master for all our groups. I’d love to share the story of how this humble business began.

The Inn Between was founded in January 2022, right in the heart of London. It all started in the cozy living room of a one-bedroom apartment in Elephant & Castle. I wanted to start a Dungeons & Dragons group, so I posted an ad on Meetup. To my surprise, I quickly had enough interest to form two groups of six players each. I became the DM for both, and each group played in the same persistent universe, where their actions influenced one another’s games—a unique feature I still maintain today, now on a larger scale with our current groups.

The idea for a board game night soon followed. What began as a few friends gathering around a table grew into an event that filled the entire apartment. At one point, I even gave up having a couch to make room for more tables! Thankfully, when I moved to Stratford, the building came with its own events space, which allowed me to reclaim some of my living room for my flatmates. The Inn Between is now back in Elephant & Castle, where the D&D table remains the centerpiece of the living room—and yes, I still don’t have a couch!

Two years on, The Inn Between has grown far beyond the small groups it started with and continues to expand. I now run multiple D&D campaigns, all set within the same interconnected narrative in the world of Faerûn—a setting you might recognize from Baldur’s Gate 3 or the recent Dungeons & Dragons movie. While we no longer run board game nights due to a shift in demand, my focus remains fully on delivering the best D&D experiences possible.

Next year, we’ll be celebrating our third anniversary, and I couldn’t be more excited for the adventures that lie ahead. It’s been an incredible journey so far, and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has joined in.

The next exciting chapter of The Inn Between has begun with our registration as a limited company. My dream is to one day rent a dedicated space, creating a permanent, safe, and welcoming environment for all our players. By supporting The Inn Between, you’re helping make that dream a reality.
